About Back to the Future
Back to the Future is a 1985 science fiction film, directed by Robert Zemeckis, written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale, and produced by Gale and Neil Canton. Set in the fictional town of Hill Valley, California, it stars Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as his friend, Emmett "Doc" Brown.
The film follows McFly as he is accidentally sent back in time to 1955 in a time machine created by Doc Brown out of a modified DMC DeLorean, inadvertently disrupting his parents' first meeting. Marty has to make sure his parents fall in love and, with the help of Doc Brown, return to his time of 1985.
The film was theatrically released on July 3, 1985, and was distributed by Universal Pictures. It received positive reviews from critics and was highly successful at the box office, grossing about $210 million during its initial theatrical run, making it the highest grossing film of that year.
